About
"Sam & Max Flintlocked!" is the fan project started
in 2004 after Lucasarts cancelled the long-awaited
sequel to "Sam & Max Hit the Road." Our game will
feature an all-new (and possibly their longest yet) case
for the freelance police to solve. The game will take
them back to sleazy roadside joints, into rigged gameshows,
to strict military camps, to snooty British clubs, and to the
far reaches of unknown outer space, all via classic
2D point-n-click adventuring. They'll have to put
up with bratty girls, eccentric foreigners, thug
gang members, evil masterminds, and deranged fast
food cooks. The game is split into three acts,
with the first act coming sometime either this year or
next.
History
The "Sam & Max: Flintlocked!" project was started on
March 6, 2004 - a mere three days after the quiet but
much-detested-by-the-general-public cancellation of
Lucasarts' "Sam & Max Freelance Police."
Angry samandmax.net forum members everywhere wanted
a new Sam & Max game, but one of them saw a fangame
as the answer to the problem, and started this project.
Before long, many talented people had jumped on board,
and by May 2004, we had our own private forums
elsewhere. Over the summer, we gleefully wrote the
story for the game, and as August approached, actual
production on art and programming began. The game
made slow progress over the next several months. So
far it's survived one forum crash, half the original team
vanisihing into thin Internet air, and several slow,
dragging periods in production. Despite this, the project
is still alive and kicking, and none of our talented team
members have the slightest thought of giving up on the
game.
